Considered by most to be the best version of SF, this title marks Capcom's debut on the Genesis. Everyone knows the drill: Pick one of your favorites out of twelve fighters, beat the hell out of everyone. The Genesis version takes a hit due to its lack of on-screen colors and its sound chip, but the control in this version is absolutely amazing, which makes up for it.

What's it all about?
It's a one on one fighter...well, it's *the* one on one fighter. Choosing one of the twelve characters, you'll use an assortment of regular and special attacks as you make your way to the evil overlord Bison. The game actually features both "Champion's Edition" and "Turbo" versions of Street Fighter 2, along with an exclusive "Group Battle" mode that allows for Match play of up to six characters, and an Elimination mode. With the SF engine nearing perfection, you'll have a great time with the various combos, characters and bonus stages that this game has to offer...

Graphics - Very good, a little washed out but very good. The characters look great and the backgrounds have a lot of movement. Capcom did a great job maximizing the 64 on screen colors to recreate the lush scenery.
Sound - The music is great(hardcore drums all the way)! The voices are seriously scratchy but at least they are the actual samples used by the arcade(unlike the SNES version).
Control - Excellent! Thanks to Sega's amazing six button controller, all of the moves and combos are easily accomplished.
AI - Cheap! It's hard to believe just how far the computer will go to beat you! Impossible moves, non-stop throwing and incredibly high damage will pound your ass. Unless you're just looking to get pissed, don't go much higher than level 6.
Replay value - It's a fighter, actually it's Street Fighter: You'll never stop!
Tips for better gaming experiences:
Be *sure* you have a six button controller for this game! Jeez, I still remember attempting to play it with the old three button, hitting start to switch between punches and kicks. Man, did that suck!

Zangief giving you grief? You know, the genie did a little wrestling back in high school...might be able to give you some pointers...

My rating: 90(out of 100) - Amazing control, solid graphics and great gameplay makes this version of SF, on the Genesis, one of the best ever made.
EGM gave it: 8, 8, 9, 8(out of 10)
GamePro gave it: 5.0(graphics), 4.0(sound), 5.0(control), 5.0(funfactor)(out of 5)

JD's words:
Though the control is better on the Genesis, the SNES version's sound and graphics are far better. Don't listen to Bel on this one, his Sega bias is shining through brightly on this one. You hear that Bel, you Sega loving bitch! Reow!
Remember kids, winners don't cheat...they throw.
Pulling a Haggar...
Flamin' mad!
Love that Blanka!
Arcade Fighter:
Being the phenomenon that it was, SF2 has racked up quite a few awards in its time. Here's just a few of the examples
* Street Fighter II Turbo was number 1 in EGM's "10 Best Arcade Games of All Time" list and number 5 in their "100 Best Games of All Time" list.
* GamePro named it Runner Up in their Genesis Game of the Year awards(lost out to Aladdin) and their Fighting Game of the Year award(lost out to Neo Geo Samurai Shodown).
* GameFan awarded it the best fighting game of any Sega console, as well as overall in 1993.
