Sailor
Y'ain't-GettinNone

An army made up of really weird people is extremely angry with the Sailor squad. They are tired of their care-free ways and short skirts...and aren't going to take it anymore. Not quite realizing that these aren't just your typical jail-bait, school girl pieces of ass, the mob is surprised as the Sailor chicks fight back! With the help of their talking pets, some weird guy who flies around in a tuxedo and their Sailor powers, the chicks set out to kill each and every person who opposes them....then get back to school in time for lunch!

What's it all about?
It's a sorta-cutesy beat'em up with a rockin' engine and some nice graphics. Taking control of one of the various Sailor chicks, you fight your way through the levels in an attempt to....uh....not being able to read Japanese, I have no idea why they are doing it...I just assumed that they like killing people. At any rate, each of the chicks have different moves, combos and specials which makes the way you play each character a bit different, and thus makes the gameplay more interesting. Six stages, from the streets of Japan to some wacky amusement park to what appears to be some alien ship or something, all await the girls...and their hot little asses....uh....um....

Graphics - Awesome. The large and well detailed sprites are really something to see, and the amount of animation in each of the girls is really nice, makes for a lot of fluid, anime-like punches, kicks, screams and slams. The levels themselves range from really pretty....to really pretty dull. The levels that shine really do so, and those that don't just look flat and quite plain...kinda half and half I guess.
Sound - Odd. The music, it may be from the show or something, but it doesn't really fit as well as it could. You'd expect something a bit faster, maybe to get adrenaline pumping. On the other hand, the sound effects are quite good and the whole Japanese "girl-screams"(SAILORMOON{real fast and one syllable}, etc) sounds just like what you'd hear in any given anime piece.
Control - Smooth as a school girl's ass......um, well, I mean it's very good....and firm....um, wait, that's not what I meant. Seriously, control is very good and allows you to get around to where you need to go, get the specials off consistently and bust some serious ass.
AI - Not a whole lot to it...they see you, they come after you. Occasionally they're smart enough to gang up on you, but the chicks are so powerful that this rarely works out for the AI. About the only sore spot is the incredibly cheap last boss...that bitch is just nasty!
Replay value - Relatively high. With each of the chicks, the game is slightly different so playing through it again with a new chick can be a lot of fun with the different combos, tactics and special moves each one possesses.

Tips for better gaming experiences:
As I've yet to find a definitive FAQ that shows all of the special moves, and as most people will never see the game's actual manual I thought I'd reprint them here.

All of the Sailor chicks:

1. Have a special jump kick activated by hitting Forward, Forward, B(jump), then A(kick). This makes them leap across the screen with real force behind their kick, resulting in a three hit combo.

2. Can grab enemies and either attack them(A), or perform a throw(Forward or Back, A). This is very SoR/FF-ish, and makes for some great damage.

and

3. Perform a jump-in hit that allows for a combo as soon as you hit the ground(hold down while jumping, hit A). Jumping in with this is a lot like it was in SoR2 where it stuns the enemy long enough for you to land and start your combo.

Past that, they also have:

1. Character specific specials performed by hitting the Special button(C). This is the typical, invincible and energy draining clear-out move.

2. A projectile attack(hold A to charge, then release to fire). This sucker goes straight through enemies. Great for when you throw a goon into his pals, then line them all up and shoot straight through them.

and

3. Super specials that are accomplished by hitting a series of directions followed by the attack button(A):

Aqua Uppercut - Forward, Down, Forward, A.

Launching herself in the air, this move hits three times.
Ground Slam - Forward, Up, Down, A

Like most of her moves, it doesn't hit that many times, but when it does...it hits real, real hard.
Super Throw - Up, Down, Forward, A

A wild aerial throw that takes off a huge amount of damage.
Tornado Blast - Down, Forward, Up, A

Close range attack that hits three times.
Sonic Scream - Up, Down, Up, A

Clearing attack that hits two times in both directions.

The only code you'll need for this is the one to get around the cart's region lock:

ATYA-AA86

This code is brought to you by the amazing Russell Marks, resident GG guru of RGVS and ASG. Thanks Rus!!!

My rating: 88(out of 100) - An excellent beat'em that ranks up there with the SoR series. A solid engine runs the fighting action as you pound the ass of anything that gets in your path. The game loses points only due to some of the mediocre, in-level graphics, the, sometimes, repetitive action and the lack of the obvious two player mode. Even so, this is still one that any fan of the genre should check out!

Cat's review:
Eh, pretty good at first...but gets pretty boring by about the third level. Same enemies, boring levels....fun for about 7 to 10 minutes, tops.
Sailor My-comboRocks attacking a citizen who has just stepped out of the coffee shop.
The girls kill so many people on this elevator ride...they just knock or pitch them straight out. Sailor Death Squad!
High-kicking panty shot! Yeehaw!
All aboard the Panda-train....or, at least, out of its way...
