More Sunsoft excellence! This game screams quality, from the art to the music! A more than worthy game to bear the Batman name. You, loosely, follow in Batman's footsteps as taken in the first movie. The elaboration is quite good, with fights in the museum and cathedral and extended takes on the Batmobile and Bat Jet scenes.

What's it all about?
Side scrolling fighter, with extras. As Batman you get to fight your way through non-stop, moronic enemies to, eventually, be greeted by some very angry boss. After a bit, you get to cruise the streets in the Batmobile destroying any and everything that gets in your way(enemy or not), then later, man the Bat Jet to do some dogfighting in an extremely busy Gotham skyline.

Graphics - Excellent! Nicely detailed, dark backgrounds with shady gangsters to go with them. Batman looks good and animates very fluidly, without being too cartoon-ish. The Batmobile and Bat Jet stages are a nice change of pace(allowing you to kill as many innocent bystanders as possible)and have some impressive, parallax backgrounds.
Sound - Hands down, no one does music better than Sunsoft and this is just another example of that! Tunes that will stay in your head(and you'll want them to) all day. Although the in game sound effects are a bit weak, they get the job done.
Control - Batman can be a bit hard to control at times, but for the most part you can get around with no problems.
AI - The bosses are dumb as brick, learning their patterns takes about 10 seconds....and if you know a certain trick they are(as hard as it is to believe) even easier.
Replay value - Pretty good, though there aren't a whole lot of secrets to go back and try to find.
Tips for better gaming experiences:
Most bosses can be easily beaten by jumping on them. Yes, as hard as it is to believe, if you just jump on most enemies enough you will kill them. Also, extra life loops are abundant in this game. Look for an area with two or more extra life icons and go for it!

Game Genie:
Tell me something, my friend. You ever dance with the genie by the pale moonlight? No!? Well this is your chance...

My rating: 85(out of 100) - Solid action, great graphics and a rocking soundtrack make this one of the best Batman games of all time. Highly recommended.

JD: Where does he get all those wonderful toys?
Cat's thoughts:
Too short! I can beat it faster than chomping down a mouse, but it's still a decent action title though....

Here, our masked hero lines up the villain for a quick(and painful) punch to the nuts.
Let it be known: If you are out on the streets past 8pm, your ass belongs to Batman.

Lotta traffic in the goddamn sky this evening....
Vicki Vale, in 64 colors...and they said it couldn't be done...
Interesting Tidbits:
Sunsoft has made a Batman game for almost every system out there!
Check out the box art, Sunsoft used the NES game pics on the Genesis box! That's quality!
